Privacy for commit --irl

What we store

• Your GitHub identity details used by the app, such as username, display name, avatar, and GitHub user ID.
• Your logged exercise minutes and the local date each session belongs to.
• Your account settings, including timezone and whether your profile is public or private.
• Cached GitHub contribution snapshot data so your profile and extension can show your code graph alongside your exercise graph.

How GitHub auth is used

You sign in with GitHub. commit --irl uses that identity to create your account, associate your profile with your GitHub username, and fetch your GitHub contribution data for display in the app.

The Chrome extension uses an app-issued token so it can read your profile data and log minutes on your behalf. The extension does not need direct access to your GitHub cookies.

Public profiles

Your profile is private by default. If you enable a public profile, other users can view your public exercise graph and linked profile information at your public URL.

Extension behavior

The extension injects a commit --irl card into GitHub profile pages so it can display your public exercise graph below the native GitHub contribution graph. It also provides a popup for quick logging.

Cookies

The Chrome extension reads session cookies from commitirl.com to authenticate API requests on your behalf. These cookies are only used to verify your identity when fetching or logging exercise data. No third-party cookies are set or read.

Data sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal data to third parties. Your data is not used for advertising, analytics profiling, or creditworthiness determination. Data is only shared when you explicitly enable a public profile, which makes your exercise graph visible to other users.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual exercise sessions from your profile at any time. To request full account deletion and removal of all associated data, contact us at the address below.
